Handel’s celebratory, upbeat, and vibrant Royal Fireworks Music under the baton of guest conductor Carlos Izcaray is next. Gabriela Lena Frank, Composer-in-Residence with the Philadelphia Orchestra whose work was featured in the inaugural season of REVERB, mixes elements of western classical and Andean folk musical traditions with Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout. The program finishes with Prokofiev’s first symphony, a landmark neo-classical work inspired by a vision of a Haydn as a contemporary composer.
